1.) I had 2 plastic bags on hand clearly indicating my philosophy on poop. You drop, you pick up.
2.) My dogs hadn't pooped just then but if they did I would have cleaned up the poop as I always do.
But then I felt sorry for these people because obviously they have some anger issues and maybe too many dogs have pooped on their sidewalk. And stepping in dog poop is disgusting.
But please try to remember, it's not the dogs fault, it's the owners! Dogs don't know to pick up poop. Humans do. So getting angry at the dogs and being a dog hater is totally unjust.
My poop policy is simple. We have a garbage can that is the designated poop garbage can. It is always lined with a black bag. The poop is double bagged. I shovel the poop into the bags. We do not leave it on our lawn for the paper boy and mail lady to step on. And since we really like our neighbors, we clean up for them as well. Even in wintertime, I get to my little poopsicles asap!
I scoop the poop as soon as I see it. After all, I want to discourage rats. And poop is gross. I firmly believe in poop-free lawns. Yes, I know it will eventually break down by the suns rays, but I haven't got that long. I want it gone pronto. So it's never intentionally left on the lawn. A well-manicured lawn should never have poop on it, yuck!
But yes, I've been a witness to some very unscrupulous behavior. The dog owner who lets their dog poop on a neighbors lawn while on a walk, furtively looks around and dashes away leaving the unsightly poop behind. This is wrong on so many levels. But I don't like getting angry looks from people just for walking my dog since I'm not guilty of this act. Plus, my doggies deserve a little walk now and then without the angry glances.
Even when we're hiking, we use the "stick method" to remove any and all poop off the path so others don't have to see it or worse...step in it.
And I do get the frustration. Why should someone who doesn't even have a dog have to clean up dog poop in their yard? People should be more responsible. Unfortunately, many people are just clueless. Still, I guess I would rather the dogs had a home then not.
What are your thoughts? I know what you're thinking right now...what a topic. Just be glad there aren't more pictures! And then I think, what about all the deer and rabbit poop in our yard? Should we be picking up that too? It's still gross and icky to step in...right?
